In Nusco relives the magic of bonfire night

Begin “Events in the Park“, a project to promote and enhance the territory promoted by the Regional Park Picentini. The first stage is related to the age-old tradition of bonfires in honor of St. Anthony Abbot and will take place tonight and tomorrow (Sunday, January 18) with the “Bonfire Night” of Nusco, event organized by the Pro loco Balcone of Irpinia in collaboration with the Municipal Administration of Nusco.
The initiative, which grows every year both in terms of quality and in terms of attendance, this year has been included in “Events in the Park”, program of initiatives designed to fully exploit the cultural and natural heritage of the PRegional Park Picentini.
The “Night of Bonfire” of Nusco (click here for the program) offers a real journey into the world of the folk tradition, with musical performances, tastings, workshops and guided tours in the historic center of one of the “most beautiful villages in Italy“. An event made up of ethnic traditions and peasant, which combines history and modernity in a review of the memory of the secular community nuscana which met around the fire as a sign of devotion to Saint Anthony.
The goal of the event is to transform the historic center of Nusco in a large laboratory food and wine, crafts and music, where there are all cultural expressions linked to the traditions of civilization peasant.
The official opening of the festival with the lighting of bonfires, is scheduled for noon 5 pm. Following opening stand with exhibitions of handicrafts and food and wine and, at 6 pm, the old town comes alive with musical groups and performances.

From 9.00 am to 1.00 pm: excursion by Irpinia Trekking from Square S.Amato to Abbey of Goleto
10.00 am: guided tours of the historic center
11.00 am: workshop on the theme: “Typicality and tradition in Irpinia”
12.30 am: opening of the stands and food tasting
1.00 pm: departure of masked groups and music performances
