“Contemporary Classic” in San Domenico Maggiore

As many as 13 consecutive days of programming, 12 shows, 5 debuts and 7 debuts Neapolitans. They are only the first issues of “Contemporary Classic”, theatrical review that, 18 to 30 August, will see exceptional stage the beautiful cloister of San Domenico Maggiore, a place full of history and art, a little piece of tranquility and culture nestled in the heart of Naples.

Lease program studded shows different genres and styles, but they all share the ability to rework classic texts with contemporary languages. Slogan: “contamination” so the Greek comedy will merge with the commedia dell’arte, the theater of Chekhov will open to non-sense, the bourgeois drama continued in the twentieth century theater, Pirandello will blend with Eduardo, tradition Neapolitan play with experimental theater. The start on August 18, at 21.30, with “Damned Souls” from “The other son” by Luigi Pirandello and “Filumena Marturano” by Eduardo with Tina Femiano and Francesca Fedeli. Dramaturgy, directing and acting voice: Riccardo De Luca. August 19 will be the turn of “The song of the cricket”, 20 of “Come”, 21 of “Passions enchanted” and 22 for “Liolà”. It’s still, August 23, spotlight on “Opatapata”, 24 of “Small marital crimes”, 25 of “’Na letter eg’ three ‘nnammurati” and 26 on “Ghosts”. August 27 will be staged “Birds almost speechless”, 28, “Sub”, a tribute to Raffaele Viviani, and last but not least the 29 and 30 August, “The Miser at lunch”.

The artistic director of the event, set in the exhibition “Summer in Naples” promoted by the Culture and Tourism, is entrusted to Gianmarco Cesario and Mirko Di Martino, with the organizational support of the Teatro dell’Osso.
