A “Symphonia Mundi” to remember the genius of Salvator Rosa

A memorial concert for the fourth centenary of the birth of Salvator Rosa, the whimsical “rebel painter” born in Naples on 22 July 1615 and died in Rome on 15 March 1673. Is scheduled Friday, March 13, at 7.30 hours pm, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in via Carminiello 5, in Torre Annunziata (Naples).

Eclectic and versatile artist, nicknamed “Salvator of battles” for the numerous pictorial representations of grand and monumental battles, but also “painter of moral things“, as defined by Jacopo Salviati, Rosa also worked in acting, in poetry and was also a appreciated musician. It will be the ensemble “Symphonia Mundi” to remember him, with Giuseppe Carannante at clarinet, Ovidiu Mezei at piano and Vincenzo Carannante at bass. Soprano: Erin Wakeman.

The concert, which enjoys the artistic direction of Giuseppe Carannante and artistic advice of prof. Antonio Tommaso Cirillo, will be preceded by an introduction to the historical-critical by dr. Salvatore Ortaglio. The evening’s program includes the performance of arias and chamber works and songs taken from the Neapolitan tradition.
