The genius in the service of pop art: crown caps folded, reworked, welded back together and with skill, forming veritable masterpieces. A colorful texture, the many faces of Marilyn Monroe, the outline of a box of tomatoes (a reworking of the famous work by Andy Warhol), the door of a refrigerator, the three sides in the movement of the Rubik’s cube. But even a glimpse of color that cries out for vengeance: that of the “Land of Fires“. And the shades of yellow, red and bluish explosion.
Highly evocative images, the clear symbolic value. Represented with caps of soft steel, assembled in an original way on special shapes by the Neapolitan artist Luigi Masecchia: he is, in fact, the protagonist of the exhibition of contemporary art “Tappo’st ” – which in Neapolitan dialect sounds more or less as “all right” – staged in Nocera Superiore (Salerno) in the picturesque scenery of Villa de Ruggiero. A magnificent nineteenth-century mansion converted into a museum by the Province of Salerno, and today the theater of the art exhibition “CEF in exposure“, produced in collaboration with the gallery Antonella Ferraro.
The vernissage, in perfect pop art style, falls within the scope of the initiatives planned for the Campania Eco Festival (now in its fourth edition), an event chaired by Francesco Paolo Innamorato, which attracts the attention of citizens on environmental sustainability linked to respect and the protection of the landscape and the use of recyclable materials.
“Tappo’st” is thus born from an idea Masecchia Neapolitan artist (who has also recently exhibited at the Florence Design Week and the Palace of the Arts in Naples), and focuses on the reuse of “closure” to the crown of soft drinks, beer or bottled water, to create works of considerable visual impact. “Tappo’st – says Luigi Masecchia, born in 1975, graduated from the Art Institute Boccioni of Naples – was born in 2013. Starting point of the project is the concept of up-cycling, namely the idea of a re-use that enhances the recycled materials, to make them more efficient than their previous incarnation”.
The plugs used for the various compositions from the many local nightlife Neapolitan (from Flegrea to the area Stabia). But many also come from London and Paris, through friends who return from trips. “In ten months – reveals Masecchia – have been collected one million 200 thousand, of which about 60 thousand used for the inauguration”. In his hands , the “closure” turn into “a vehicle of potential stories to tell”. In short, creativity, respect for the environment. Philosophy of recovery. Reuse. In one sentence : “It’s the art that is at the service of common sense. Why, concludes Luigi: “green economy and recycling issues are deeply felt, of which there is much debate. And that’s why we like to think that a project like Tappo’st started from Naples, the city too often brought to its knees by the emergency waste”.
