The initiative came from a call on Facebook for a mom to friends, publishers and booksellers to donate books to sweeten the days of the little patients who immediately received the support of Dr. Paolo Siani, director of the pediatric ward Santobono, convinced that not only medicines and treatments they need younger guests but also distracting, welcoming environments that can alleviate the ‘forced stay’ thus becoming places of listening and emotions where browse, watch, read, scroll through the eyes but also concentrate on reading.
The shelves used to carry the books were really half-empty a few hours, are in fact already dozens of books that volunteers Santobono began collecting and arranging in the library between the satisfaction of adults and happiness of children.
The appeal received from all over Italy, and each category, among the ‘illustrious’ donations to Massimo Bray (Director General of Treccani), Edgar Colonnese (publisher and editor of the publishing house Colonna), the Association Don Fabrizio De Michino, the Mary Foundation and Godfrey Bellonci and Luciano Vanni (publisher and Jazzit director, Cultural Tourism, Civitates).
