The beautiful Toledo station of Line 1 of the Naples Metro has been nominated to represent Italy ITA Awards 2015, an event that rewards the “work underground more functional and innovative.” The selection will take place on Nov. 19, 2015 in Hagerbach, Switzerland and the prize amounts to “an Oscar” of the area of ​​large construction underground.

With great pleasure that we bring to the attention of all members of the Italian candidature presented by the Naples Metro and Milan underground ITA Tunnelling Awards 2015 for the category Tunnelling Project of the Year (amount between 50 million and 500 million euro ) Station Toledo on the Dante – Garibaldi on Line 1 of the Naples Metro.

The station is a masterpiece of engineering and architecture for complex geotechnical works, which have guaranteed stability during excavation and control of land subsidence in the groundwater, and why shall, in general, completely new techniques and technologies in the field. The project was designed by the Catalan architect Oscar Tusket Blanca, while the interiors are decorated with works of William Kendridge, Bob Wilson and Achille Cevoli.
