Oil, Massa Lubrense the competition for the best pruner

Within the Sirena d’Oro, the national competition that rewards the best extra virgin olive oil DOP and IGP, next Saturday, at Villa Angelina (Massa Lubrense) takes place “Mastro Potino“, first contest of olive pruning, to care of Oleum, national association of professional tasters of olive oil. The award “Mastro Potino”, promoted by the towns of Sorrento and Massa Lubrense, aims to enhance the professional pruner of the olive. The race can access, free of charge, all the farmers and students of vocational schools for agriculture. Participants will have to work on three plants, in a maximum of thirty minutes, making a “production pruning.” For the execution of the cuts will be allowed only manual equipment: scissors, hacksaw, and pruner. Each competitor must compulsorily acquire the personal protective equipment. The pruning must be done from the ground. Each plant will be marked with a letter, and each competitor must prune the plants in alphabetical order assigned to him. Will be awarded the best five pruners, chosen by a jury of five industry experts. You will also receive a certificate of merit to the youngest and the oldest participant Potino. Will be admitted to the race 50 participants maximum. Applications must be received by Thursday, sending an email to associazioneoleum@gmail.com. The event will conclude with the award ceremony and a symposium on the theme: “Pruning olive: state of the art and innovation”.
