On 6 September 2015 the initiative back “Sunday at the Museum” with the opening of the archaeological sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis and the Antiquarium of Boscoreale from 9.00 am hours to 6.00 pm (closing excavations 7:30 pm). To the ruins of Pompeii, following the massive influx of visitors to the previous Sunday with free admission, the Superintendent in accordance with the Ministry of National Heritage, cultural activities and tourism, decided to adopt measures to regulate the flow of visitors and prevent excessive simultaneous presence of tourists, which could jeopardize the safety and security of the site, so access to the site will take place during the following hours: from 9.00 am to 12.00 am and from 2.30 pm onwards. To ensure maximum protection of the site and at the same time optimal use of the same, it is taking steps to promote the safety measures, with the strengthening and redistribution of the security service. It also reiterates that for security reasons and not ‘allowed access with bags and bags of measures exceeding 30x30x15 cm and that measures will be taken to control access even to sites of Herculaneum, Oplontis and Boscoreale through the quota input .
