A tourist circuit that involves cities that share a volcano. This is the meaning of the “European Volcanoes Route“, which has joined the municipality Vesuvius Ottaviano (Naples), in response to an invitation from the European Commission. The project aims to increase the competitiveness of the participating institutions, by taking advantage of the volcanic territories and the creation of new forms of transnational tourism. The project idea, worth a total of about 325mila euro, will develop from April 2015 to September 2016, and is an international partnership between the City of Octavian and the Tourism Authority of Tenerife (Spain). A deal has been the Head of Tourism Aniello Saviano and the chairman of the council Biagio Simonetti. Project partners will, over Ente Tenerife Tourism Corporation, the Tourism Authority of Auvergne (France), the City of Riposto (in the province of Catania), the Foundation Evris (Iceland), the consultants Hcl (Greece), the Volcanológico Instituto de Canarias (Spain), the circuit “Geo Tenerife”. Satisfied with the mayor of Ottaviano Luca Capasso who stressed that the commitment to the project shows “the increasing willingness of the administration to raise funds outside the institution, through participation in competitive tenders, with the hope of finally being able to go from a City is a tourist destination with a fully Municipality tourism”.
