A Samnite tomb containing dating from the fourth century BC came to light in the Necropolis of Porta Ercolano inside the archaeological site of Vesuvius. The discovery took place in the context of the excavations carried out in collaboration with the French team of Jean Berard center of Naples and is “one of the rare testimonies of funeral pre-Roman times, with full funeral” unearthed. As part of the same campaign of excavations we were also discovered workshops of potters still in use at the time of the eruption in 79 AD The new findings will be officially presented Monday at 11 am, right on site, by the superintendent Massimo Osanna, the director of the Centre Jean Bérard in Naples, Claude Pouzadoux, and archaeologists working in the field.

Inaugurated this morning in the presence of Minister Dario Franceschini, the “Game of Resonances“, the new site-specific sound installation art for the Great Palestra of ruins of Pompeii (south side), designed by Michelangelo Lupone and Laura Bianchini and created by CRM – Centro Ricerche Musicali of Rome. The installation, commissioned in 2009 by the CRM, was implemented as part of the extensive restoration of the Great Gymnasium of Pompeii, which closed to the public since 2008, they reopened its doors today to the public on a proposal to visit the original It offers the chance to enjoy the spaces of the large building as it was in its original form and at the same time to enjoy the same as used for the Museum’s permanent exhibition area, as well as temporary.

The extraordinary frescoes of complex Moregine, so far exhibited in international exhibitions, are in the south porch of the gym their final, prestigious location. Here the CRM – for almost thirty years in Italy pioneering center for research, creation, dissemination and scientific music with special projects intended to build, through innovative forms of music, art sites, archaeological and urban environments – has made an impressive sound installation titled “Game of Echoes”, a place of sensory experience, an immersive and interactive environment able to adapt and develop the musical form in relation to the presence of the user and the passing of time. All the expressive components of the installation are related and integrate hearing and vision, proposing a reading of the artistic site and frescoes of Moregine: “The music is based on his communicative power immaterial body of its forms of expression, and this allows you to build it often and rightly to intercultural emblem – explains Michelangelo Lupone, creator of music and the installation of Planofoni employees -. If it is designed to go into creative relationship with the public, if the rules of its development come into a constructive relationship with the ‘ environment, if his own form is renewed with the passage of time, it is possible to think that music can become a ‘space’ actualized expression, a ‘time’ sharing of suffering”.

The “Game of Resonances” presents itself as a welcoming, stimulating the temporal forms of the imagination; a non-invasive which allows the user to acquire the acoustic memory of the site with a consistent pattern of sound that enhances the architectural shapes and volumes, a space perception can stimulate in the viewer an emotional participation. The music comes from the materials that make up the space: are Planofoni Planofoni Corten steel and stainless steel, vibrating systems, consisting of panels of different materials and shapes, designed by Lupone and executed by the CRM. It is non-conventional technologies, which spread the sound with specific dependent structure of matter, the geometry of the design, by the orientations and curvatures of the surfaces occupied by plastic volumes. The Planofoni allow to give the sound the tonal characteristics of the material used and allow, by punctual irradiation on the whole surface, to draw the acoustic space in relation to the architectural space. In this way the musical form changes and evolves to the presence of the user, and in relation to the passing of time: at each change of season is renewed changing some peculiarities of timbre and rhythm.

The musical form has three different areas of intervention. The first area: “Environment” is characterized by large walls in corten located to the left and to the right of the frescoes of Moregine. In it there is provided a musical score that uses the slight vibration of the steel plates contiguous to draw Sound paths along the surfaces and obtain resonances that blend with the surrounding environment. The second and the third area, respectively, “the Man” and “The tools of his work”, are obtained in the spaces that separate the frescoes. These two environments connoted by the presence of “Planofoni ‘” stainless steel suspended ceiling, designed by the composer, whose musical score is developed respectively on the voice and the sounds of the instruments of labor, articulated polyphony that use radiation multidimensional Planofono and achieve a particular spatial sound that completely envelops the visitor.[charme-gallery]

“Enhancing the tourism of the south through cultural events of high level”, these are the words of the master Alberto Veronesi artistic director of Pompeii Festival scheduled from the month of May. Second edition of the event in an exceptional location, the Teatro Grande of Pompeii, with a program of theater and dance. “This is a new event, to which we must look young with the same enthusiasm with which you might look at a newborn thinking about his bright future. The Festival includes subjects of high culture to which it addresses a great interest of the public” as the Master Veronesi describes the Festival which will involve ancient Pompeian stage international artists, orchestras and complex domestic and foreign. The program also includes four nights of Carla Fracci, artistic director of the ballet of Pompeii Festival, scheduled for the months of August and September. The big international stars will dance in honor of the greatest Italian ballerina proposing a retrospective in the form of ballet. For the program of the dance Fracci will add his expertise to the choice of the great classical ballets, is expected as “Carmen Suite” produced by the Ballet of the South who returns this year to Pompeii and “Giselle” with music by Adolphe Charles Adam and magnificent “Swan Lake”. One of the novelties of the 2015 Festival of Pompeii is the partnership agreement with the Consortium Costa del Vesuvio, chaired by Angelo Pica, who will have the opportunity to prepare “packages” that include tourist sightseeing and watching one of the shows in program. “The Consortium Costa del Vesuvio is a major player for the hospitality industry – says the Maestro Veronesi – who has enthusiastically embraced the idea of the festival so we are happy to work with them for a common goal. The Consortium will provide tickets to its Customers having grasped the important consequences in the area of Pompeii Festival. We also have the hope that the other institutions involved, such as the Ministry and the Superintendent will continue to take a particular enthusiasm for the event that looks to relaunch the south through Pompeii. Is need to promote tourism in the South through major events such as the Festival Pompeii”. “The meeting with Mr. Veronesi – says Giovanna Oliviero, director of operations of the Consortium Costa del Vesuvio – was born at the Embassy in Prague, where we were to present the regional to the foreign press. We both realized the importance of an operation marketing and joint business to increase employment of the territory and the interest in the destination and the event. ” “Pompeii Festival represents the first serious attempt to create a program of cultural events that also enriches the tourist offer of the area – says Angelo Pica, president of the Consortium Costa del Vesuvio – we strongly support this strategy and we hope that it is adequately reinforced at the institutional level in order to have significant results in terms of incoming and image of the tourist destination of the Costa del Vesuvio”.

Rebuild the ancient city of Pompeii with the bricks of the buildings? No sooner said than done. The dream has been realized by a fan named Ryan McNaught, better known as “The Brickman“, which has received this special and prestigious post by Nicholson Museum di Sydney, Australia (McNaught, in the past, has already created for the same museum Lego versions of the Colosseum in Rome and the Acropolis of Athens). The news portal greenme.it in an article that explains how man has rebuilt the ancient city destroyed by the fury of Vesuvius using at least 190 000 Lego bricks. Now his creation is on %20http://www.greenme.it/display in the spaces of the prestigious Australian Museum which is enjoying great success, confirming the appeal of the Roman city of tourists and enthusiasts around the world. An appeal will remain intact even in this special … reconstruction. The city assembled from “The Brickman” shows us how Pompeii could have been before the volcano blotted from the face of the earth, in 79 AD, as it was when it was discovered in the eighteenth century and how it looks today in the eyes of visitors.
According to the Nicholson Museum, which is part of the University of Sydney, and focuses on the study of ancient cultures, that of McNaught is the largest reconstruction of an ancient city ever built until nowadays. The use of the famous colored bricks allowed to draw attention to the issue of a new audience, very young, who otherwise might not have visited the museum. And that, in all likelihood, struck by this unusual vision, want to try live the thrill of a real visit to the ruins of ancient Pompeii. [charme-gallery]

Four years after the seizure, the centuries-old structure torn from the ashes of Vesuvius back then to be re-usable. The event is scheduled for 27 and 28 June 2014 with the staging of Aeschylus Oresteia. The extraordinary trilogy Greek, in fact, will be the star of the show wanted by the National Ancient Drama (Inda) that, to celebrate its one hundred years of life, presenting, for the first time, his shows at the archaeological site of Pompeii as choosing location just the Teatro Grande.
The reopening of the site, special event that is part of the program of the Universal Forum of Cultures (UNESCO sites) will be announced next Monday (June 23), in Pompeii, during a conference planned in the area of the triangular hole. Speakers: Superintendent of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Stabiae, Massimo Osanna, the governor of the Campania Region, Stefano Caldoro, Councillor for Cultural Promotion and museums in the region of Campania Caterina Miraglia, the alderman of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Region of Campania Pasquale Sommese, the President of the Scabec Maurizio Di Stefano and the mayor of Pompeii, Ferdinando Uliano.
The reopening of the Grand Theatre of Pompeii was made possible by the release of the property prepared by prosecutors in Torre Annunziata. The area, in fact, was the subject of an investigation into the restoration works carried out during the period of receivership of the archaeological site. With the prosecution of all suspects, it could in fact proceed with the reopening of the site.

[charme-gallery]
The Grand Theatre, in Roman times, it was the place in which they were represented comedy, mime and pantomime, as well as the Atella. Apparently the first stone was thrown into the Samnite. The structure was completely rebuilt in the second century BC and restored several times in the following century. In the middle of the Augustan age, thanks to the contribution of the gens Holconia, one of the most important families of Pompeii was completely reconditioned. The restyling is commemorated by a plaque survived the fury of the eruption, that says: “Marcus and Marcus Rufus Holconius Holconius Celer rebuilt at his own expense the underpass covered the shelves and the whole staircase“.

The theater was built on the slopes of a hill and is located a stone’s throw from the Doric Temple. It has the shape of a horseshoe, and is distinguished from the traditional model to the Roman amphitheater. It could hold about five thousand spectators.
